Christmas Toy Drive 2010

On Monday, December 20, 2010, the Parish Hall was bustling with activity. It was the 2nd Annual Toy Drive held by St. Mary’s Outreach Program, but this time it was in conjunction with the Outreach Program at St. Ignatius which our director Blanca Cales is in charge of also. Toys were donated to us by Lancer Insurance Co., Emigrant Savings Bank, the Long Beach Fire Dept. and many parishioners who donated toys in our huge toy box in the back of our parish. The parents enrolled in our Outreach program came to the center that day to pick out toys and new clothing for their children which they could take home and wrap themselves for the children. It was so heartwarming to know that all of these children would wake up on Christmas day to see a special toy and a new outfit under their tree all made possible by this wonderful program, which is not only for the benefit of the children at St. Mary’s, but St. Ignatius as well. We look forward to next year and want to express our gratitude to all the people who made this all possible and to all the volunteers who showed up that day and put in many hours of work so that everything could run smoothly, which it did!
